T-Lab Wooden Animal – Whale

A truly multi-cultural product!  

T-Lab in Japan designs these animals which are made from a fast growing & sustainable tropical tree called the Albizia tree.  The figurines are carved, painted, and finished by hand in Indonesia and named “Polepole,” which means “slowly” in Swahili.  Presumably to denote the careful method by which it is made but it can also refer to slowing down and enjoying the simple elegance of beautiful artisanry.
